CUASOU308 Install and disassemble audio equipment

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to install and disassemble audio equipment for a range of live performance and entertainment productions. It applies to individuals who work collaboratively as part of a production team to install, align, test and disassemble audio equipment for playback, mixing and recording purposes.

CUASOU201 Develop basic audio sklills and knowledge

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to complete basic audio tasks in a range of production contexts. It applies to individuals assisting with audio operations in the screen, media and entertainment industries. At this level, they are working under the direct supervision of experienced sound technicians and operating equipment at a basic level.

CUASOU301 Undertake live audio operations

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to interpret audio production requirements, participate in technical run-throughs and operate professional audio equipment during live performances in the screen, media, entertainment and events industries. At this level, individuals are required to use some discretion and judgement and operate under broad supervision within an established framework of plans and procedures.

CUASOU212 Perform basic sound editing

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform basic digital sound editing. The unit applies to those working under supervision who are responsible for preparing, assembling and digitally editing relatively simple sound sequences for media content. Individuals are expected to contribute to creative outcomes, including selection and acquisition of sound materials.

CUASOU213 Assist with sound recordings

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake routine sound recording tasks using different recording equipment in a studio or live environment. The unit applies to those who work under close supervision and have responsibility for assisting with setting up recording equipment, completing sound checks, monitoring the quality of recorded sound, labelling and logging recordings and solving routine problems that might occur during the recording process. Individuals in this role might work in different creative arts industry sectors, including stage productions, music recording studios, television, radio, film, video and online environments.

CUASOU304 Prepare audio assets

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare audio assets for inclusion in broadcasting, games and interactive media. It applies to individuals who prepare and package audio content into formats appropriate for various media distribution channels and interactive products.

CUASOU306 Operate sound reinforcement systems

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate sound reinforcement systems for live performances. It applies to individuals whose main role is to monitor and maintain sound quality through front-of-house sound reinforcement systems during live performances.
